Optical, semiconductor, large area coatings, LED lighting, aerospace, medical and advanced batteries are a few of the varied markets that Materion Advanced Materials Group serves.

Materion Advanced Materials (the former CERAC) has been manufacturing specialty inorganic materials and physical vapor deposition (PVD) materials in Milwaukee since 1964. Because of our industry expertise and extensive manufacturing capabilities, we are able to meet our customersí requirements for consistent quality, reliability and repeatability across a broad range of products. Materion is a global supplier of premier specialty materials, serving industries such as thin film solar cells, precision optics, semiconductors, large area glass, LED lighting and ophthalmics.

Specialty Inorganic (SI) Materials

SI materials are used in the manufacture of thin film solar cells, semiconductor substrate precursors, pacemaker batteries, medical detector devices, phosphors and temperature resistant aerospace coatings, to name only a few applications. Typically sold as powders of well-defined purity, these materials include small quantity R & D items found in Materion Advanced Materials 2,000 item signature catalog, as well as bulk quantity specialty compounds.

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Materials

Materion leads the North American market in the manufacture of PVD materials for optical applications. These products, sold as either evaporation materials or sputtering targets, are deposited under vacuum onto a substrate, producing a thin-film coating with specific optical or physical properties. Typical applications for thin film PVD materials include large area glass , anti-reflective coatings, anti-counterfeit coatings on currency and security documents and infrared coatings on high-powered CO2 laser optics.

Materion Advanced Materials Group offers its customers a level of manufacturing flexibility and in-house technical expertise not available from the competition. Unique integrated manufacturing capabilities enable the company to control every step of the manufacturing process, from raw material production through chemical processing and final inspection.
