A high-performance plastics processor and manufacturer, Acton Technologies is the world leader in the surface modification of fluoropolymers and has been successfully etching all fluoropolymers including PTFE, PVDF, FEP, PFA, PCTFE, ECTFE and ETFE among others. Acton also manufactures the chemicals for modifying the surface of fluoropolymers to enable adhesion. Acton's products and services are employed by industry leaders in the areas of aerospace, automotive, electronics and semiconductors, fiber optics, medicine, energy, environmental and more. Additionally, Acton Technologies is proud to have achieved certification for the internationally-accepted 9001 quality management and 14001 environmental management systems.

In addition to FluoroEtch® Safety Solvent, our sodium-based etchant, Acton offers batch and continuous contract etching services; calendered films – high-performance, lightweight, next generation fluoropolymer films; HgX® Mercury Decontaminant; and Aclon® – the first and only wettable, bondable PTFE whisker. Other products include mixed-acid etchants for the electronics industry and Korode Kure for battery corrosion. Acton engineering provides alternative fluoropolymer processing options, research and development into new technologies and projects, and design interface for customer operated equipment.

Acton's corporate headquarters and North American operations center are nestled in beautiful northeastern Pennsylvania. Acton Technologies also has two European locations: Adare, County Limerick, Ireland and Ospitaletto, Italy.

Experience
Supported by years of experience, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and some of the brightest minds in R&D today, Acton Technologies offers expertise in a variety of areas. Whether a client is experiencing difficulty getting a fluoropolymer to bond, or is looking to develop a uniquely engineered calendered film for an unusual and/or specific application, our industry experts can help. Acton's award-winning development team will work closely with you in defining the problem, performing material tests, assessing the results and arriving at a solution.

Etching Fluoropolymers
For decades, Acton has been at the leading edge of development in the unique surface chemistries of PTFE bonding. Meeting the challenging demands of our customers, in conjunction with involvement in various university research projects, has allowed us to focus our intelligence and ingenuity on many fronts. Acton Technologies is a pioneer in developing the latest technologies for the surface modification of finished and semi-finished fluoropolymer components.

Etching is the process of changing the chemical and/or physical structure of material surfaces. These surfaces are etched to make them more amenable to processes like adhesion. Sodium-etching of fluoropolymers is a well-established and well-understood technology with more than thirty years of successful bonding experience in many thousands of applications worldwide.
